Oh yeah, did I mention that I will be in London for the next three weeks? I am totally excited to be opening a new store on King's Road and then hopefully doing a little sightseeing/taking a little detour to Berlin to see some friends!

If you have any recommendations for shops, museums, galleries, restaurants and other must-see places in both London and Berlin, please reply!

Mieke Willems Collections

Lena just blogged about the beautiful textile designs of Renilde-Deputer and mentioned called Mieke Williams that carries the designs. I am adding this shop to my places-I-must-visit-someday list (which mostly exists in my head)! I particularly love these photos of their product lines.

California Milinery Supply Company

If I lived in LA, I would spend most of my time in the California Milinery Supply Company. Rows and rows of feathers, flowers and trims are stuffed into boxes and drawers and apparently they are always digging up more stuff to sell. Sorry the photo quality isn't the best; it's a little dark in there!

Tortoise

Tortoise is a beautiful Japanese design store in Venice Beach filled with gorgeous little things. I loved the bowls made from coiled ribbon (seriously-aren't these amazing?!!), simple vessels of stone, mugs with bamboo handles and cube mobiles. I tend to think a lot of design stores look the same ( I mean I love Tord Boontje as much as the next girl, but it all gets a little repetitive you know?) but Tortoise is filled with things I have never seen before.

The philospohy behond Tortoise is the design equivalent of the "slow food" movement: to appreciate things made with love and care over mass-produced items and the community spirit of a general store over the big box chain.
