Layer Cake Necklace- Chen Chen and Kai Williams

ChenKai_LayerCake_Cords

ChenKai_LayerCake_Detail

Oh my goodness, this necklace is like a slice of pure amazing craziness. I hate to covet objects but could we just make one little exception here?

These necklaces are made from scraps in artist Chen Chen and Kai William's  studio, soaked in urethane and then wrapped around wood to make a big awesome log of colorful wonderfulness. Then they cut the log into slices and coat in resin. Available in the Sight Unseen shop.

Kinfolk Magazine

Picture 22

It seems like every week brings a new online magazine to the table. While many of them have been criticized for being a little derivative and not-so-original, Kinfolk, a magazine dedicated to the beauty of the small gathring, looks pretty amazing: goegeous photography, great writing, a thoughtful, fresh concept. In a word, yay!

Check out their first issue here and make sure to watch this very sweet video.

Book Review and Giveaway: Design Your Own Tees

I adore a book that not only teaches you lots of new techniques but inspires you to make your very own creations. I can imagine each and every one of the projects in Design Your Own Tees by Jennifer Cooke (St. Martin's Press) spun into millions of other projects. You can block print, silkscreen, stitch and appliqué your way to tee shirts of course but also to everything else you own!

Jennifer is known for her bright colors and modern bold prints in both her line Raeburn Ink and in this book. Her style is such an original modern take on many different crafty techniques- I want to make everything but my absolute favorite is the hexogonal appliqué tee on the front cover. I could imagine that pattern on tees (natch), pillows, a dress or maybe an ipad cover?

So...do you want to win this book? Of course you do! Here's what you have to do: leave me a comment and tell me if you've ever done any tee shirt makeovers. What did you do? What do you want to try?

Just leave a comment by Monday July 11th 5 pm EST and I'll pick a winner.

White Cube

I have to admit: I have never, ever in my life wanted white walls. So it's a little weird to be completely obsessed with white right now. The Mr. and I currently live in a very brown house; it's all brown floors, brown stairs, brown couch (what? I bought it before we moved!) and white walls seem like the only thing to combat the sea of brown. Not taupe, eggshell, cream, just white white white. I've been pinning and saving any inspiration I can find with white walls. Here are a few favorites below...

Oh, and the color we picked? Snowbound by Sherwin Williams. Just a teensy bit creamier than pure white.
