Apple crisp and other fun things...

This has been one of the busiest months I have ever had and it's been hard to find a few moments for myself. This morning, as I was washing dishes, I started thinking about baking and noticed the very ripe apples and pears sitting in the fruit basket. I tried to ignore them, telling myself that I had too much to do but after a few more minutes they were practically begging that I bake something. Drat. Apple Pear Crisp it is.

It was totally delicious to eat and the perfect combination of easy/comforting to make.

Warping Wallpaper

Since we are redecortating our apartment, I have been looking around at a lot of wallpaper sites recently. I have found lots of beautiful patterns but this warping wallpaper really straddles the line between art and decoration. I imagine it takes a lot of careful planning to hang this paper but it certainly is cool!

About a week ago, I got this amazing email from a woman named Jennie Donahue. Jennie made a video and was inspired by some of the images and photos I have featured over the years on my blog. Well, I clicked on the link and watched the video and have to say, the feeling is mutual! I am totally inpired by this video. Plush You 2008!

I got so busy this past week that I forgot to mention that my Red Snapper is in the Plush You! show this year. You can go visit him (her? it?) at Fancy in Seattle for the rest of the month. I wish I could have made it to opening night this year! It was so fun to actually be there last year.

Tomorrow is the first day of photo shoots for my book!! Wish me luck!

This image from the Marimekko website makes me so happy and calm. I think I could really use a nap.

Falling in Love with a Bowl

On Sunday, I bought some bowls from fellow New New team member May Luk. It's hard to explain falling in love with a bowl but I think I have.

It's always really cool to hear about designers inspirations so here is what May says about this pattern: "The Orient used to a be a far away, exotic place for Europeans. The Willow pattern was a British invention. For fun and fantasy, I brought some Brooklyn flavor to the Anglo-Chinese mix. The obligatory water tower and Manhattan Bridge - the direct link to Chinatown in Brooklyn. Globalization on a plate."

My grandmother always had a lot of Blue Willow and I have a weird love for the pattern even though it's pretty old-fashioned. I even have a few plates of my own but rarely use them. They're not expensive or anything but food doesn't really look that good on them! Blue and food usually don't mix. Anyway, these bowls are perfect because they have a hint of blue but they are so modern and work with everything.

A few other things I have fallen in love with this week:

*Apple and pear crisp with almonds, homemade today with CSA fruit.

*This very lovely home.

*Learning a new sewing skill.

*Orange or rust tights with blue dresses.
