Just Around the Corner

Despite the snow on the ground and the freezing nights, I am in a spring fashion frenzy. I have a job coming up which (gasp) requires lots of magazine tears and so I have read about ten fashion magazines this weekend and see no end in sight.
Normally, I try not to read too many fashion magazines, mostly because I am not a big fan of trends and "it" bags, but secretly, I know that once I start I can't stop. I don't really care about the status of fashion; it's purely the aesthetic that I fall for. I started reading Vogue in the eight grade. Compared to my totally unglamorous suburban junior high existence, Vogue was this fantasy world of red lipstick, high heels and french things. Oh, I will get into my adolescent obsession with the french another time.
I have sworn off fashion magazines many times over the last few decades: the last time I realized I had a problem was when I moved to New York with two giant boxes full of magazines I "just couldn't throw out". I bought seven inspiration books, spent days tearing things out and sent the reject piles out to the recycling bin. Now I'm pretty ruthless with magazines. I buy the ones I love and borrow or scavenge the others. Believe me, there are millions of month old Vogues lying around looking for a good home and they're not that hard to find!
Back to my recent bout of fashion mag addiction, this is totally for work. It's not personal, I swear. I will not fall for their glossy pages filled with beautifully made clothes I can afford and fascist fashion edicts I am too old and stubborn to follow.
Oh, but look at this beauty from Elle Magazine!

I am all over this hothouse flower, crazy, overgrown tea party look. The colors are so beyond gorgeous! I think I will be really into yellows, oranges and pinks all mixed up together this spring. And I wouldn't mind having that Zak Posen dress on the left either. You see, the problems are starting already...
